What Overt measures. And what it doesn’t.
What each number in Overt means, so it can be read, compared and quoted correctly.
What each number means.
- A week
Monday to Sunday. Every Monday, the week that just ended is added for every company followed. The current week is never shown: a half-finished week would look like a slowdown.
Weekly counts go back to January 2026.
- Ads live
The number of distinct ads a company had running on a platform at least one day of the week. Counted per company, per platform and per week.
- One platform at a time
LinkedIn Ads and Google Ads are counted worldwide. Microsoft Ads is counted in the European Economic Area only.
The three are shown side by side, never added up.
- 0 and —
0 means the company ran no ads on that platform that week.
— means there is no number to show. A dash never becomes a zero, and a week without a number never counts as a launch or a stop.
- ≥ at least
A number written with ≥, for example ≥3,000, is a minimum: the company ran at least that many ads. No week-on-week change is drawn from it.
- New and stopped
New: live this week, not live the week before. Stopped: live the week before, not live this week.
When the two weeks cannot be compared, the cell shows —.
- Longest-running
The number of weeks an ad has been live since tracking began. For an ad already running when tracking began, it is a minimum.
- A/B tests
On LinkedIn Ads, versions of the same ad running at the same time.
When one version stops while another keeps running, the version kept is shown. Kept, not proven better: Overt sees the advertiser’s choice, not the results behind it.
In a watchlist, each company’s part of the ads live that week on one platform.
How many ads is a company running on LinkedIn?
Add its website to Overt. Every Monday, Overt shows how many ads the company had live the week before on LinkedIn Ads, with Google Ads and Microsoft Ads beside it, week after week since January 2026, and which ads are new and which stopped.
How to see a competitor’s LinkedIn ads
Follow the competitor in Overt: its ads on LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, sorted by format, with how long each has run and, on LinkedIn Ads, the version each A/B test keeps, next to every other company you follow. For one company at a time, the free Overt extension for Chrome sorts the LinkedIn Ad Library by format.
What Overt does not measure.
- Spend and results
No spend, no clicks, no conversions. Overt does not estimate what an advertiser pays or earns. It measures activity: how many ads, on which platform, week after week, and the ads themselves.
- Other platforms
Ads on Meta (Facebook, Instagram), TikTok, X or Reddit are not counted. Overt counts LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
- Who an ad targets
The people an ad is aimed at, by job title, company or skill, are not shown.
- Affiliation
Overt is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by LinkedIn, Google or Microsoft. Their names and logos are used only to say which platform a number comes from.
